USA Sports Therapy FAQs

How is USA Sports Therapy Different?

There are too many reasons to list in this forum, but the most important is that we want to get you better and discharged as quickly as possible.  We have studied and have been certified in numerous techniques, none of which are taught at traditional Chiropractic or Physical Therapy Schools.  Because of this, we have the skills necessary to avoid just manipulating (crack) patients or giving basic physical therapy exercises you could read online.  We effectively relieve our patients’ symptoms and keep them out of pain for a longer period of time.  Our goal is not only to rid our patients’ pain, but we work to improve their function and return them to doing what they love, whether playing tennis, golf, running, etc.  – QUICKLY. It is our goal to keep our patients doing what they love!

What if I have seen other Chiropractors or Physical Therapists in the past with little relief?

It is disturbing to us when a patient comes in for their first visit and we see the type of treatment they are receiving elsewhere.  Often, patients are shown improper exercise form or are given the wrong exercises for their condition, which will not only prevent them from getting better, but can actually make their symptoms worse.  A major problem in Chiropractic and Physical Therapy is there are numerous ways and philosophies to practice.  Most patients and Medical Doctors are not aware of this.  The Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Schools prepare us to practice at a basic level, but not be expert clinicians, similar to when a medical student finishes school before residency. Unfortunately, many Chiropractors and Physical Therapists do not go through residency programs or take the necessary continuing education to be considered an expert.  At USA Sports Therapy, we have all studied and been certified with advanced degrees and techniques such as, Chiropractic Sport Physician, Orthopedic Physical Therapy Specialist, Active Release Technique, Graston Technique, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Loomis System of Enzyme Therapy, Certified Strength and Conditioning, and Acupuncture. Our techniques, combined with our evidence-based approach, produces the best results in the least amount of time.

What Should I Expect On My First Visit?

On your first visit, you will receive a comprehensive neurological and orthopedic examination.  This examination will include looking at joint and muscle function, specifically restrictions, muscle strength, flexibility, and balance.  Depending on the injury, we will do sport specific tests, gait analysis, and functional tests.  X-rays may be taken if needed.  Once the examination is complete, you will get a comprehensive diagnosis and we will discuss an individualized treatment plan.  The first visit usually takes at least one hour.  To decrease the time for the first visit, please fill out the forms that will be emailed to you prior to your scheduled visit.  We recommend you bring gym shorts and a tee shirt for the examination.

How Long Will I Need Treatment For?

We do not sell pre-determined care plans that make you pay for a set amount of visits up front.  Until we do a formal assessment, we will have no way of knowing how many visits it may take to get you better.  However, we do not believe in maintenance care where a patient needs to come weekly for the rest of his or her life.  There are patients that see us regularly, but our goal is continued progression to allow our patients to perform at their highest levels of work, exercise, and daily activities.
