Dr. Cierra Smith received her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree (DPT) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Prior to her physical therapy education, Dr. Smith attended Florida State University, where she received her degree in exercise physiology. Since the start of her career, Dr. Smith has primarily worked in outpatient orthopedics, working with a wide variety of patients from all activity levels.
Dr. Smith’s treatment plans emphasize bringing her patients back to their optimal strength and mobility to ensure they meet their individualized goals and return safely to their prior level of function. To optimize treatment outcomes, she incorporates movement analysis with strength training and manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilizations, myofascial release, instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilizations (IASTM), and cupping. She specializes in treating a variety of orthopedic pathologies, as well as neurological issues and vestibular dysfunction.
Before becoming a DPT, Dr. Smith was a competitive swimmer, which is where she was first exposed to the world of physical therapy and sport-specific rehab. She continues to stay active recreationally through strength training, running, and swimming.
